Different types of lighting create
different interior impressions - as they
also change the character of the light.
- If working planes are solely
illuminated with direct light, hard
shadows result, making objects
and their details less discernible.
The relatively dark ceiling seems to
be very low.
- Exclusively indirect illumination
generates a light atmosphere with
little shadow, which often appears
monotone. This frequently also
results in an unfavourable
brightness ratio between the
relatively dark workplace area and
the bright ceiling.
- It is the combination of direct and
indirect light that provides the
necessary balance of light and
shadow. This makes architectural
features and their surface textures,
as well as people and objects,
clearly discernible.
