As a model, natural daylight does not
only have a single qualitative function.
The longer and more intensely it can be
used in buildings, the more intensely
energy can be saved. The intelligent
interaction of architecture that integrates
the daylight, daylight-dependant light
management systems and efficient
illumination planning achieves potentials
of energy saving of up to 75% -
particularly in working and
communication areas. For the first time,
the EEC directive 2002/91/EG "Total
energy efficiency in buildings" which
has been in force since 2003, also
includes illumination and will be
become national legislation in 2006.
